Ever since Veronica Mars was abruptly cancelled and ended in 2007, I have been pining for a Veronica Mars movie. The series had no real closure, everything ended “up in the air” and many fans like myself were dissatisfied by the way things were concluded. I often found myself during the past few years on twitter campaigning for a #VeronicaMarsMovie to no avail.

But today, when I woke up this morning, I discovered a Kickstarter: “The Veronica Mars Movie Project” campaign with already one million dollars pledged whilst I was sleeping {due to crazy Australian time difference}.

Sure enough, I made a pledge and the next thing I knew, the target had hit two million dollars. The film has now been given the green light and will be filmed this Winter {Summer season for the US} hopefully starring all our favourite characters from the show.

A lot of the pledges depending on the amount you donate have certain rewards. At the moment none of the rewards are available to be shipped outside of the US which is a pain as I’m sure a lot of people would donate more if they could get the higher rewards shipped to them. The creator, Rob Thomas has recently tweeted that they’re working on a way to include international fans with rewards, so fingers crossed for all of us!

I thankfully have a really good friend in the US that helps me receive items from places that don’t ship to the US. So I have pledged $200 and will hopefully receive a movie poster signed by the cast and creator, a Blu-Ray/dvd combo of the film, a limited edition movie t-shirt only available for Kickstarter backers who have made a pledge, the digital copy of the film, a .pdf copy of the shooting script and regular cast updates. They money won’t be collected until mid April so if you’re interested in making a pledge, you still can! Hopefully despite me living in Australia, with the help of my awesome friend, Joseph I’ll be able to obtain these awesome items as I am a HUGE Veronica Mars fan!

Even though the project has reached it’s mark, if you can – keep pledging! Because every dollar they get will help better the quality of the film; whether it be costumes, sets, props or ice-cream. The cast and creator have been wanting to do this film for years as well, so it’s AMAZING that we’ve raised $2 million US dollars within 24 hours.

It’s happening! After 6 years of waiting, Veronica Mars fans are finally getting their movie. This news has made my day.
