Zero Dark Thirty is basically a film about the catching and the death of Osama Bin Laden.

Jessica Chastain plays the character “Maya“, a young CIA operative who is hell-bound on catching the infamous terrorist. Despite all the hype, I have to say I was extremely disappointed with this film. It’s mostly filled with useless dialogue and even though it’s considered a “historical” film, I wonder how much of it is based on truth considering it was nominated for “Best Original Screenplay” at The Oscars. Understandably, there was no book to base the film on. But on a basis of historical content, where does fiction end and fact begin with this movie? I don’t even think “Maya” is a real person nor is based on a real person.

I have nothing good to say about this film. The actors acted like they had no soul, I could not relate to the characters at all and the story didn’t flow. I understand that war films aren’t for everyone, but I usually don’t have a problem with them – and I hated this.

A film basically about a pencil pusher with no other depth or signs of a life outside of work who wants to catch a terrorist, hissyfits a lot and doesn’t know how to let go, wanting to catch terrorists more for selfish personal reasons than for patriotic ones; this is Zero Dark Thirty in a nutshell but in the most unimpressive way possible.

Zero Dark Thirty definitely puts the “O” in “Zero” which is what I wished I had spent on this film regarding my ticket.

There is absolutely NOTHING special about this film. If you want to watch a war film, please AVOID this one as there is so much better out there.
