Colde: BLUEPRINT Tour Oceania 2024, Max Watts, Melbourne, November 6th 2024 – Live Review

With introspective references in his music, devoted Australian fans were fully immersed during the highly anticipated night in Melbourne with Colde.

Kim Hee-soo, better known as Colde, kicked off his solo 2024 BLUEPRINT Oceania Tour in Melbourne, Australia. As attendees eagerly waited for the performance to commence, Max Watts transformed into a vibrant space filled with mellow beats and excited chatter.

Opening the night with his latest single album YIN (Youth In Nostalgia) and the track Toxic Love’, it felt that Colde was telling his audience that the only true love we’d find that night was with him, in Blueprint. The performance set a beautiful tone for the intimate and emotional journey he created for us.

With lyrics that were simple in pace, it was undeniable that at nearly every song, Colde’s devoted fans passionately sang along with him. This enthusiasm created a strong bond between him and the Melbourne audience, much like the sentiment expressed on his custom-made t-shirt, “I love Melbourne, more than coffee”. Prior to the show, Colde had the opportunity to immerse himself with our city’s offerings including our renowned coffee culture which he thoroughly enjoyed and wholeheartedly agreed with.

Already anticipating Basecamp as his supporting act, it was refreshing to see the duo perform almost as an intermission. Tactfully smart, this allowed the audience to catch their breaths and gain some down time to vibe out before the energy picked up again with Colde. As it was their first ever visit to Melbourne, performing midway in the show allowed late comers to enjoy the beauty that was Basecamp’s Moon Jun-Ho and Chae Wook-Jin.

Hyping up the crowd once more, Colde kicked off his second act of the night with Nirvana Blues. With a blend of new and old, Colde performed an array of tracks such as LighterI Fxxking Love YouControl Me and WA-R-R which heightened the enthusiasm in the room and was received with powerful responses from the Melbourne crowd. Notably during SunflowerColde shared his fan-gifted sunflowers with the crowd, and had everyone belting out the lyrics to I Color You for the chance to win a one-of-a-kind matching “I love Melbourne, more than coffee” t-shirt from Colde. With such intimate interactions, it’s no surprise why Colde was so loved and welcomed by his adoring patrons.

Drawing closer to the end of the night, Colde performed the track Dance’, which he curated with his offonoff member, EOH. This performance almost served as a reminder to his artistic roots and his now reset, leaving the audience eager for the potential future performance by the duo down under. Fingers crossed!

Ending the night with a reflection of his journey into becoming a musician, Colde highlighted his music inspiration, covering Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit’ which reflected on the musical styles of his earlier years. With high energy and an even stronger stage presence, Colde concluded the concert with what felt like a celebration of all his achievements thus far while also marking the beginning of a new chapter.

Although the night was over and most patrons were heading home, few Melbourne fans lingered to meet Colde where he kindly signed albums, VIP lanyards and expressed his gratitude for their attendance.

Having Colde perform in Melbourne was an unforgettable experience. The way his voice harmonised with the crowd was truly special, creating a connection that felt both personal and electric. Captivating his devoted fans with his rich and powerful vocals, it was an honour to be a part of it. His performance at his Melbourne concert for his BLUEPRINT Tour felt reflective of his musical journey, starting from his days in offonoff, to his evolution as a soloist.

With his unique blend of genres, Colde took us on a musical ride that not only showcased his growth as an artist but also highlighted the emotional depth of his lyrics which he brought to life through his expressive vocals. From the very start, Colde brought everyone together, creating an energetic atmosphere that kept the energy high throughout the Melbourne show. His performance left the crowd buzzing and eager to see what exciting new music he has in store for the future.

Colde, known for his blend of R’n’B, indie and hip-hop music style, successfully captivated and thoroughly entertained Aussie fans at his first ever sold-out Melbourne show. Hopefully, it wont be his last either.
