Miyeon, Minnie, Soyeon, Yuqi, and Shuhua, known together as 4th generation K-Pop queens (G)I-DLE, are on their way to Australia for the first time ever as part of their i-DOL World Tour.
Not only will they be making their Australia debut this year, but the K-Pop girl group will be concluding their 2024 World Tour in our country! In preparation for their final leg, we’ve prepared a list of 10 songs that you must know before you attend their concert.
1. ‘Super Lady’ (2024):
Purposefully penned to be the epic intro for their tour. The song is fierce, feminine, empowering and catchy as hell! This song will make you want to strut down a catwalk in style and have you telling people to call you “Super Lady”.
2. ‘LATATA’ (2018):
Debut song ‘LATATA’ had (G)I-DLE considered as ‘monster rookies’ in their debut year and they’ve been getting better and better ever since. The song is now considered a super catchy anthem for the group and their fans alike.
3. ‘Lion’ (2019):
(G)I-DLE performed this original song as part of their entry for the reality girl group survival show, Queendom. But it became something more. It is now one of (G)I-DLE’s most iconic songs of their discography and a fan favourite. They may not have won the contest but through their participation in this show, they wowed many existing fans, won new fans, as well as many hearts!
4. ‘Queencard’ (2023):
(G)I-DLE’s ‘Queencard’ took the world by storm last year with its fun, colourful and vibrant visuals, its tongue in cheek lyrics, its additive chorus, and mesmerising choreography. ‘Queencard’ is arguably one of (G)I-DLE’s best songs and is a must-know at any (G)I-DLE concert.
5. ‘Allergy’ (2023):
The companion piece to ‘Queencard’, ‘Allergy’ came out days before ‘Queencard’ was released in promotion of (G)I-DLE’s 6th EP ‘I Feel’. The songs visit themes of self-love, envy, and the pressures of beauty standards. ‘Allergy’ moved fans worldwide and it’s so lucky that the song is on the tour setlist, as it’s definitely one of their most powerful.
6. ‘Tomboy’ (2022):
When everyone thought (G)I-DLE were on their last leg, the girls proved them wrong. ‘Tomboy’ was grittier, more aggressive and feistier than anything (G)I-DLE had released before. Influenced by rock music with an alternate rock and pop punk sound, ‘Tomboy’ will have you feeling like an energised rebel ready for vengeance with this track. Plus, who can resist shouting along to the line, “Yeah, I’m f**king Tomboy!”.
7. ‘My Bag’ (2022):
From (G)I-DLE’s first full studio album ‘I Never Die’, the same studio album that also has ‘Tomboy’, ‘My Bag’ is a fine companion. In this songs, (G)I-DLE leader Soyeon made sure to write the lyrics in a way that would bring out her group members’ individual styles. That’s right, they all rap in this and leave no crumbs.
8. ‘Klaxon’ (2024):
A song that will grow on you, ‘Klaxon’ is catchy, carefree and super sweet. It’s hard not to love ‘Klaxon’ for its “I love you, baby” line, (G)I-DLE’s gorgeous vocals, and the song’s optimistic and fun-loving attitude.
9. ‘Wife’ (2024):
(G)I-DLE are always clever with their discography. Not only is their music super catchy but their songs have meaning too. With ‘Wife’, although appearing fun and silly on the surface, the song has a deeper message about being a woman in society and not wanting to conform. Honestly, it’s brilliant.
10. ‘Fate’ (2024):
Rounding out our list is ‘Fate’. J-Pop inspired, specifically anime theme song inspired, the song has relatable lyrics and explores the imaginative idea of an unexpected yet fateful encounter.
