Scottish singer-songwriter Lewis Capaldi’s returned to Australia and was a phenomenon not to be missed.
The anticipation showed the strength of his impact with his adoring fans, ready to stand at the forefront of every note. The Melbourne crowd proved that music holds deep power and connection. From the reception that Capaldi received, his break from the industry did not lessen the support around him. Opening with ‘Survive’ and ‘Grace’, Lewis Capaldi created an atmosphere of attendees ready to pour their hearts and souls into his lyrics. With each track in Capaldi’s setlist, he gave his Melbourne fans clear opportunities to sing, move or just be in the moment.
As the show moved from hit after hit, Capaldi paused to thank and welcome his fans. Through these moments, fans would shout out and he would respond with sharp wit and laughter. Though it may have felt lacking in vibrancy in stage productions, this setup was perfect for a return stage that created a sense of unity, belonging and kept the night grounded and focused on the music.
Fans were treated to ‘Wish You the Best’, ‘Bruises’, ‘Something in the Heavens’, ‘Before You Go’, ‘Hold Me While You Wait’ and his highly anticipated ‘Someone You Loved’. In return, Lewis Capaldi was given the surreal energy from everyone in the Rod Laver Arena venue. Melbourne fans belted back every lyric, fully engaged with his reflections and challenges woven in his music.
From his struggles with mental health in ‘The Day That I Die’ to other soulful and captivating melodies, Lewis Capaldi drew energy from the now, the past and lingered on moments of lost love. That shared and relatable connection made the night feel more alive, embracing an energy that lingered with every note that Capaldi effortlessly sung.
No one gets as real as Lewis Capaldi does. His laidback attitude and sharp jokes pull fans close, openly speaking about mental health, wearing his heart on his sleeve and reminding us of the vulnerability of just being human. Embracing what’s raw and showing his Melbourne fans that it’s okay to have struggles and that no matter what the hurdles or duration, we can all surpass it and become much happier, the Lewis Capaldi concert felt more than just that. It felt humbling and healing, reminding Melbourne patrons that these struggles are simply a part of life and progress takes time.
Filled with gratitude, Lewis Capaldi was thoroughly welcomed by his Melbourne fans for finally returning to Australian shores after five years, with a return that was well worth the wait. With great positive energy and warmth that filled every inch of the iconic Rod Laver Arena venue, if it wasn’t clear enough before, it is no surprise now why Lewis Capaldi loves Australia so much. Evident during this sold out 2025 Australian and New Zealand tour, the feeling is mutual. We love him right back.

He has already played Christchurch and Auckland in New Zealand and Brisbane and will head to Adelaide on Monday the 15th of December at Adelaide Entertainment Centre before concluding the leg at RAC Arena in Perth on Wednesday December 17th.
