Keeho, Theo, Jiung, Intak, Soul, and Jongseob, collectively known as P1Harmony, are no strangers to Melbourne. In their second visit to our city, the 4th Generation K-Pop boy group returned to Festival Hall for their [P1ustage H : UTOP1A] Live Tour, proudly presented by Box Live.
Showcasing their new tunes, signature songs, energy, and talent, considering group had only visited us last year, it was undeniable the amount of growth the members have gone through in such a short period of time as artists, both individually and as a group.
Kickstarting with ‘Street Star’, the energy in the Festival Hall venue instantly elevated as soon as the members stepped onto the Melbourne stage. Followed by ‘Everybody Clap’ which literally had everyone in the venue clapping, and the catchy ‘Heartbeat Drum’, it wasn’t long before the group were affectionately addressing the Melbourne crowd, commenting on our coffee, the weather, visiting Hosier Lane for the P1Harmony street art that fans made, and doing their best to master the Aussie accent (this was mostly hilarious attempts by Keeho). Jongseob even showed off his bowling skills with the audience playing along to sway like bowling pins which was funny and cute!
After introductions and a lovely chat, P1Harmony performed sensitive ballad ‘I Am You’ which slowed the momentum down to showcase their excellent vocal skills and harmonisation before picking the pace up again with ‘Butterfly’, ‘Killin’ It’ and ‘Back Down’.
Then came the solo performances! Theo was first up with a gorgeous cover of Stephen Sanchez’s ‘Until I Found You’ complete with swaying phone lights from the fans. Intak had patrons gobsmacked with his Magic Mike style song and dance cover to Victoria Monét’s ‘On My Mama’, Jeongseob showed off his commanding stage presence performing A$AP Rocky’s ‘Praise the Lord (Da Shine)’ and effortlessly encouraging the audience to chant and vibe along with him.
Soul, who unfortunately during P1Harmony’s last visit injured himself during a soundcheck in Sydney, was super happy to display the extent of his abilities in a jaw dropping dance solo. Keeho was found dishing out impressive vocal licks while wielding a samurai sword and singing cover of ‘Kill Bill’ by SZA. Finally, Jiung brought the blissful and sweet vibes, throwing back to the now iconic classic, Justin Bieber’s ‘Baby’ which made for a fun singalong.
Jumping back into group performances with ‘Pyramid’, ‘Black Hole’ and the fiery ‘Look At Me Now’ complete with pyrotechnics, P1Harmony had a chat after these three songs to comment on their solo stages, wished some lucky fans in the audience ‘happy birthday’ before singing acapella renditions of fan requested tunes, ‘More Than Words’ and ‘Scared’. After this was done, P1Harmony sung the delightful and super cute ‘Fall In Love Again’ for the first time in Australia, before showcasing their hits with powerful performances of ‘Doom Du Doom’, ‘JUMP’ and their signature song ‘Follow Me’ that had everyone on their feet, singing at their top of their lungs and pumping their lightsticks into the air.
Admittedly, ‘Follow Me’ was also my favourite part of the night because of how vibrant, energetic and passionate everyone was in the venue during that song, including myself. You just had to be there! It was so much fun singing, jumping and dancing along to that number. It was even better with a lightstick! Last tour, there were no lightsticks sold as merchandise, so it was comforting for many that patrons could easily preorder and pick up P1Harmony lightsticks prior to the show thanks to new promoter Box Live.
The vibe in the atmosphere was fantastic, P1Harmony even commented on the energy in the venue being crazy, that Melbourne really knows how to party, and the group thanked patrons for a great memory. Asking the Melbourne crowd if they wanted to go home as their show was almost over and then saying themselves in Aussie slang, “NAUR!”, P1Harmony made sure to conclude on a high. They even performed ‘AYAYA’ twice!
No P1Harmony show would be complete with a P1Harmony style encore where the members get up and close and personal with P1ece (fandom name). At the same time, the members vowed to return stronger, better, with more music and in a hopefully bigger venue.
Whether you’ve seen P1Harmony before, or this was your first time, you’d be hard-pressed to find patrons not elated from seeing them live. Fans were glowing with glee when leaving the Festival Hall venue. P1Harmony’s [P1ustage H : UTOP1A] Live Tour was dynamic, exciting and super impressive from start to finish. Hopefully they come back to bigger venues next time and with original songs for the solo stages! To top off the night, every patron received complimentary photocards upon arrival provided by Box Live as mementos to cherish of their concert experience and keep forever.
Proudly presented by Box Live, FNC Entertainment’s P1Harmony performed in Melbourne as part of their 2024 [P1ustage H : UTOP1A] Live Tour on Thursday the 18th of July at Festival Hall.
